Amy & Brad in St. Francisville, LA

Amy & Brad in St. Francisville, LA
Keeping their cool, Amy and Brad pulled off a gorgeous pink-themed plantation wedding in record time.
Photos By: Old South Photography
Location: Greenwood Plantation, St. Francisville
Amy always dreamt of marrying at a beautiful plantation near her childhood Girl Scout camp in St. Francisville. To the Texas resident‘s surprise, her mom Terri (a troop leader) perused The Knot‘s Baton Rouge message boards for recommendations. Satisfied with the positive feedback, Terri agreed that the plantation was the perfect nuptial site. Soon enough, eight of Amy‘s Girl Scout friends and their mothers flew in from across the country to help with the catering and overall support. Amy said, "It was truly a group effort which made it even more special!"
Each bridesmaid wore a hot pink satin dress with a strapless fitted bodice and full skirt. Amy said, "The dresses were dazzling and so were my bridesmaids!"
Amy‘s mom, who is also a wedding coordinator, ordered hundreds of hot pink Ravel roses, pale pink Anna roses, and pale pink spray roses for decorations and bouquets. "In keeping with the Southern plantation theme, my mom used ornate silver tussie mussies filled with spray roses and baby‘s breath for the bridesmaid‘s bouquets," Amy said. The bride, who felt like "a princess in a fairy tale," carried two-dozen pink roses wrapped in white satin ribbon as she walked to a beautiful altar decorated with an arbor of pink roses, pink petunias, and pink cosmos and ferns.
To complete Amy‘s perfect idea for a Southern plantation wedding, she infused the outdoor site with various shades of pink to match the blooming hot pink azaleas that surrounded the space.

With less than five weeks (!) to plan, Amy Bernhardt enlisted her wedding consultant mother, her childhood Girl Scout friends, and their mothers to pull together a hot pink, picture-perfect wedding at a moonlit Southern plantation.

The Date March 6

Amy and Brad met at a local restaurant where she was a bartender. Brad played in a local band nearby so he constantly invited her to stop by -- but Amy always had an excuse not to go. One night she decided to surprise him and went to hear him play. "I was the one who was surprised," Amy says. "He announced on stage, 'Hey you actually came,' and dedicated the last song to me!" They began dating soon after that memorable musical night. Four weeks later, Brad walked into Amy's job again with another invitation: an invitation to be his wife! "I had a feeling he was going to ask me," Amy said. "I just never dreamed things would move so fast!"
